Words of Wisdom From Yoga Teachers

To kick off our philosophy class with our teacher Dylan Bernstein, we went around the room and shared our favorite words of wisdom. It was awesome to hear such great advice and helped me better understand my new friends based on the wisdom they chose to share. Forgive me for not having all of the quotes exactly right or properly sourced but here’s what I collected:

“We were meant to flourish not just survive.” – Marit

“Thoughts are powerful and we don’t need all of them.” – Dawn

“Be mindful. Be in the moment. Be with the dishes.” – Jen

“The more you let your light shine, the more you allow others to do the same. Don’t limit yourself.” – Claudine (stems from one of my all time favorite quotes by Marianne Williamson.)

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” – Albert Einstein shared by Honza

“Don’t let people rent space for free.” Me (my mom says this a lot!)

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” – Nicole

“Our mind is a movie playing 24/7. Observe. Don’t interact.” – Lauren

“Ethical individualism – finding what is really true for you. Tools to meditate, concentrate and focus on what’s truly ethical.” -Jenny

“To thine own self be true.” – Shakespeare shared by Christy

“TBIYTC – The Best Is Yet To Come”; “Keep your fork dessert is coming.”; “If you have a why, you can get through any what.” – Savannah (A future Naturopath)

“Don’t hurt or kill anything or anybody.” -Victoria (she makes delicious vegan recipes!)

“The healing power of nature – we need to support our bodies with nutrition, sleep, etc. Our body has an innate healing ability.” – Alex (another future Naturopath!)

“Even in the darkest darkness you can see the smallest little light.” – Eva (said with the sweetest swedish accent)

“The incidence of coincidence is no longer a coincidence.” – Jules (said in her beautiful british accent – also a successful business women turned global yoga teacher #inspiration)

“If someone tells you not to do something, and that something is not illegal, do it!” – JL (said with precise english in her Chinese accent)

“Positivity is key!” – Sara (cancer survivor and proof that this mentality works!)

“Soar like an eagle.”; “TIAIC – Take It As It Comes.” – Shruthi

“Becoming real. You become.” – Anna (former ballerina turned yogini)

I loved this exercise and feel wiser because of it! It’s amazing how much we can learn from one another if we just allow ourselves to be open. Also, it proves to me how important it is to surround yourself with people who inspire you to be a better person. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to learn alongside these incredible humans and from the best teacher!
